There may trouble ahead at Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s wedding. Recently, the pair’s former co-star from “The Voice,” Adam Levine, shared his brutally honest thoughts on their upcoming nuptials.
On Thursday, the 42-year-old singer appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” During the lighthearted interview, the Maroon 5 frontman cracked some jokes about his former judges, who got engaged last October.
“I don’t support their marriage,” Levine playfully teased to DeGeneres. “She’s so cool,” Levine said of Stefani before adding of Shelton, “and he’s not.” “But he’s very funny and very smart,” DeGeneres said in defense of the country music hitmaker.
“He’s vaguely charming,” Levine quipped back, adding with a laugh. “I missed this. I missed making so much fun of him,” Levine confessed before revealing what he plans to do at the wedding.
“I’ll go to the wedding and I’ll object,” joked Levine. “I probably won’t be invited now that I’m saying this on live television. But I’ll be there somehow.” To which DeGeneres chimed in, saying, “I’ll be your date. Let’s go together.” He added, “Let’s go. Let’s just crash.”
Adam Levine Gives His Two Cents on Blake Shelton & Gwen Stefani’s Upcoming Wedding
However, this wasn’t the first time the pop singer spoke on the couple’s upcoming wedding bells. During an interview with SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up, he teased that they “couldn’t afford” to hire him as their wedding singer.
Despite the jokes, he had a serious moment when he said he “would love” and “be honored” to play at the wedding. “They won’t ask me though. They’ll probably get like Luke Bryan or somebody,” he said, going back to the joking.
However, both Stefani and Shelton have publicly stated that Levine would be more than welcome to perform at the ceremony.
“I definitely would love to have Adam sing at our wedding,” Stefani said during her appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” Shelton also expressed a similar sentiment. “I’ve decided that I’ve been doing this a long time now and I’ve got a lot of favors out there. He may not like it, but Adam Levine’s gonna have to get the band together and come and play our wedding.”
However, Shelton couldn’t help but playfully rib his music. “Their music is so boring that it won’t distract from the festivities and the reception,” he joked of Levine’s band.
While there’s no official wedding date yet, fans can expect the wedding to be the celebration of the year. According to Shelton, “it’s starting to sound like a Coachella lineup.”
