Did you tune in Sunday night for NBC’s fantastic The Grand Ole Opry’s 95 Years of Country Music? If so, then you know how perfect Brad Paisley & Blake Shelton were as co-hosts. These two can banter with the best of them. Combine their wit, and you’ve got country music magic. Perfect for celebrating the genre’s most influential venue.
For those who missed out (or simply want to relive a few classic highlights), The Grand Ole Opry’s Twitter account is releasing clips from the 95th Anniversary special. Today’s comes with a bit of Opry history, trivia, and humiliation of one lovable Blake Shelton.
“Here’s an Opry fact people may not know. We have our own mailboxes here,” Paisley states to the camera. “Don’t we?” he asks co-host Blake Shelton.
“Yep! I’ve got mine right here,” Shelton nods, taking to his golden mailbox.
“Let’s see if we have any mail!” Paisley continues as Shelton opens his own mailbox to a blank, empty space. “I don’t have any, I…”
“-Woah, look at all this!” Paisley interrupts with a smirk. It seems his own mailbox is full to the brim. Colorful letters overflow as Shelton remarks “it’s just spillin’ out!”
“I don’t even know what to do with all this!” Paisley says. The chemistry between these two is priceless. In ‘disbelief,’ Shelton grabs one of his pal Paisley’s letters.
“The hell does this say?” he asks, reading it. “This is addressed to ‘occupant,'” Shelton scowls hilariously.
“Well… they’re big fans, still, I think…” Paisley replies off-the-cuff. Give the glimpse a watch below, an instant reminder of why these two goobers are kings of country:
Brad Paisley is Blake Shelton’s Newest Troll
And if that weren’t enough, Paisley took to Twitter yesterday to troll Shelton for Valentine’s Day, as well. That’s right, move over Adam Levine… Brad Paisley is making his move to become Blake Shelton’s official troll.
“Get yourself a Valentine’s date that looks at you the way Blake Shelton looks at me,” Paisley jests on Twitter Sunday. Paisley’s tweet gave fans a glimpse into filming for the special. Within, Shelton looks rather attentive to his country co-star’s presence, doesn’t he? Brad Paisley certainly seems to think so. Even the Opry’s signature red lighting gave off perfect Valentine’s Day vibes for their budding bromance.
As for the special itself, country fans were treated to an absolute spectacular last night (Sunday, Feb. 14). Within, Brad Paisley & Blake Shelton were far from alone. NBC’s special will feature performances by Kelsea Ballerini, Dierks Bentley, Garth Brooks, Kane Brown, Lady A, Little Big Town, Old Crow Medicine Show, Brad Paisley, and the one and only Dolly Parton.
And that was just the tip of the country iceberg. Incredible performances, including Lady A Honoring Randy Travis with ‘Forever and Ever, Amen’ Performance at Grand Ole Opry, absolutely brought the historic house down in a night fans won’t soon forget.
