For many, Christmas just isn’t Christmas without their annual traditions. That is true for Brett Eldredge and his family.
Recently, the singer said he almost didn’t follow through on one of those traditions. According to The Boot, Eldredge considered not singing in church one Christmas in order to take the holiday off. This, however, did not go over well with his family.
Since his youth, the singer had performed “O Holy Night” during a service held in his home church.
“I would look down from the choir loft and see my whole family, and they’re all looking up there, smiling and crying and just loving that moment every year,” he told The Boot.
When he told his family he planned not to carry through with his annual performance, they were not pleased.
“They got so mad at me,” he jokingly said.
Brett Eldredge also performs for his family at home – near the Christmas tree with his guitar. It’s a great way to celebrate what told The Boot was “far and away” his “favorite holiday.”
He released a Christmas album, Glow, in 2018. It includes Christmas classics such as “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “The Christmas Song,” “Silver Bells,” “Sleigh Ride” and “Do You Hear What I Hear?”

This year, Brett Eldredge teamed up with Kelly Clarkson on the festive holiday tune “Under the Mistletoe.”
“I love writing new Christmas songs that have a classic, throwback vibe,” Clarkson previously said. “Brett is such an amazing singer, and I was so impressed by his classic sound on his Christmas record, so it was a perfect match for picking a duet partner for ‘Under The Mistletoe.’”
Brett Eldredge also recently appeared on “The Bobby Bones Show” to perform his rendition of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.”
