On Tuesday, country star Ronnie Dunn of Brooks & Dunn shared news that the band is working on a “hardcore country record,” which should excite their fans to hear.

Last year, Dunn and his longtime bandmate Kix Brooks released a new record titled Reboot. The album became the duo’s 11th studio album of their almost 30-year long career together. However, the album featured 12 re-recorded versions of their songs, sung as duets with other country artists.

In fact, the country duo has not released an album of all-new material since 2007’s Cowboy Town. Additionally, Brooks & Dunn took some time off following their 10th studio album and went on hiatus from 2005-2010. With new music in the works, their 12th studio album would be their first album of new material in over a dozen years.

Dunn shared the news on his official Twitter account and said it has reminded him of what’s important in life. The country artist included a photo in his post of members of his family. The picture captures Dunn, his wife Janine, and as he put it “the children of my children.”

“While I work to write and gather “dysfunctional” “crying in your beer” songs for the upcoming hard core country record I am reminded of the things that really matter in life…. family, the children of my children !! United we stand !!! RD,” Dunn tweeted.

Brooks & Dunn Sang With Luke Combs at the CMT Music Awards

Last month, the legendary country duo joined rising country star Luke Combs for his 2020 CMT Music Awards performance. The trio performed “1, 2 Many,” which began with Combs on stage performing solo. Then, Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn joined him on stage. But, before they continued, Brooks offered up a beer to Combs who promptly shotgunned the drink before getting back to the music.

Combs said it’s a dream come true to play alongside the country veterans. He said he’s thankful they agreed on the collaborative performance and looked forward to having some fun with them.

“For me, it’s like a total dream come true every time I’m with these guys at all so I mean it’s really awesome. I’m thankful that they are here to do it with me and I’m gonna have fun, for sure,” Combs told media backstage before the awards show.

“Luke with all of his humility,” Brooks followed. “He is on fire right now if you haven’t noticed. We did get a little prelim crossroads performance so we know it’s gonna be fun, just looking forward to it. His music is not unlike ours, so we’re not gonna try too hard, we’re just going to go out there and sling it I think.”
