Bubba Wallace does not approve of Darius Rucker’s new face mask.

The Tweet From Bubba Wallace

Darius Rucker showed off his new face mask and his school spirit. “LET’S GO COCKS. ⁦@GamecockFB⁩ !!!!!!!!!” he tweeted. “Thanks to my man ⁦@jacksonmcqueen⁩ for the cool Block C masks. U the man Jackson!!” Rucker is a South Carolina native and attended the university, majoring in communications.

Wallace immediately responded to his new look. Instead of using words, Wallace used an emoji of a man shaking his head no vehemently.

Darius Rucker, Bubba Wallace Friendship

While there aren’t any pictures of the two, Rucker and Wallace seem to be friends. Rucker recently sang the National Anthem at the Daytona 500. Rucker has been a longtime sports fan, including both football and NASCAR.

Wallace first interacted with Rucker on social media in January 2019. “Hey @dariusrucker, best of luck to ya tonight, #GBO,” he tweeted.

Darius on Performing at NASCAR Events

NASCAR fans are rowdy and tend to boo both performers and drivers. Rucker is never worried about it. “I’m good at what I do,” he told the Chicago Tribune. “I think people get booed because they suck. I did the Super Bowl pre-game in the ‘90s and sang the national anthem at the World Series and NBA games, and there were never any boos. I’ve done NASCAR events before and the crowd makes it so easy. Those are the people I’m trying to sell records to.”

Wallace has had his own run-ins with fans booing him. Earlier this month at the Bass Pro Shops NRA Bristol Night Race, fans booed him as he was introduced. The NASCAR driver seemed to laugh it off, even mentioning the incident on Twitter.

“Lol not expecting it?!! Where you been?” he tweeted. “I’m battling with (Kyle Busch) for the top spot in that category. Jokes on them tho.. thanks @beatsbydre. Couldn’t hear a thing.”

The boos seemed to stem from Wallace’s outspoken political opinions. He has spoken about Black Lives Matter, police reform, among other political and social justice issues. Additionally, his social media accounts tend to receive negative replies from naysayers.
