The Grand Ole Opry officially welcomed its newest member, Carly Pearce, on Aug. 3. After being invited to join the Opry by Dolly Parton in July, Carly was officially inducted into the esteemed organization by Trisha Yearwood on Aug. 3.
During the induction ceremony, Carly was welcomed on stage by Jeannie Seely, who joined the Opry in 1967.
“Carly has all the obvious wonderful traits, but she has that one extra thing, determination,” said Jeannie. “She has the sincerest dedication and strongest work ethic of anyone I’ve ever known in my life. And she never strayed from her path of wanting to be a member of the Opry.”
Since moving to Nashville 12 years ago, Carly has performed on the Opry more than 85 times. Carly scored a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart with her 2017 debut single, “Every Little Thing.” She also topped the chart in 2020 with the Lee Brice duet, “I Hope Your Happy Now.” The song was named CMA and ACM Musical Event of the Year, as well as ACM Single of the Year.
Trisha Makes It Official
Carly opened her showcase by treating Opry attendees to a solo rendition of “I Hope Your Happy Now,” before Trisha Yearwood joined Carly on stage. The tandem teamed up to sing Trisha’s 1997 hit, “How Do I Live.”
Afterward, Trisha, who joined the Opry in 1999, officially welcomed Carly to the family.
“This is a very special place, and when you are invited it’s an invitation to the family,” said Trisha. “So, with much pride and joy, Carly you are now an official member of the Grand Ole Opry.”
“What makes this family something special to be a part of is you can have hit records and sell out shows, but all of that can fade and this is something I will have forever,” said Carly Pearce. “It’s a stage to sing on, a circle to stand in and a forever family. This is super special to me. All I ever wanted to do was sing country music. This isn’t another accolade or feather in my cap but a promise that I will do my due diligence to make sure the circle is never broken.”
