Carrie Underwood’s 5-Year-Old Son Will Be Featured on Her Upcoming Album

When it comes to the holidays, the more the merrier. Carrie Underwood sems to agree with that statement. She’s invited her 5-year-old son Isaiah to sing with her on her new Christmas album My Gift.

The 37-year-old country singer discussed her decision to bring Isaiah on the album via the Today show. He’ll appear on her version of “Little Drummer Boy.” Carrie seemed especially happy to feature her child on the album due to his sincerity and “feelings.”

“Whenever I think of that song, I picture his face and his personality. That is so him,” she said of her son’s relation to the song. “He would be the kid that would make you something and bring it to you because that’s what he had to give you. And that’s the whole sentiment behind ‘Little Drummer Boy’ is bringing what he has to Jesus, which is why I wanted to name the album My Gift.”

How Carrie Underwood’s son brought My Gift to life

Underwood spoke on how she helped Isaiah express “all his little 5-year-old emotions” when recording.

“He was just so expressive,” she said. “When I heard the song back with his sweet little voice on it, I was laughing and crying and just had so many emotions. I’m so proud of him.”

This will be Underwood’s first holiday album, and while working on it has been difficult because of COVID-19, she still wanted to make it a reality.

“I didn’t want to let this year stop us,” she added. “We made this album and to be honest, it was such a blessing for me to be able to go in and sing these happy, positive songs this year. It was something I needed.”

My Gift will include Christmas classics like “Silent Night,” but will also include special guests like John Legend for tunes like “Hallelujah”. It will also feature some original songs from Carrie Underwood herself.
