Carrie Underwood Announces ‘Special’ Collaboration for Highly-Anticipated Movie Soundtrack

On Tuesday (August 31st) country superstar Carrie Underwood announced on her Instagram a special collaboration with Dan + Shay for the highly-anticipated soundtrack for the upcoming film Dear Evan Hansen.

“I’m so excited to share that I teamed up with @danandshay to record a very special song for the #DearEvanHansenMovie Original Motion Picture Soundtrack!” Carrie Underwood shares in the post. 

Carrie Underwood also revealed that she teamed up with Dan + Shay to perform “Only Us” for the soundtrack. Fans can pre-order the album now and listen on September 24th. Along with Underwood and Dan + Shay, other artists on the soundtrack are Sam Smith, Summer Walker, Sza, Finneas, and Tori Kelly. 

According to IMDb, “Dear Evan Hansen” is the film adaption of the Tony and Grammy Award-winning musician about Evan Hansen, who is a high school senior with social anxiety disorder. The audience follows his journey of self-discovery and acceptance following the suicide of his fellow classmate. The film is set to hit theaters on September 24th.

Carrie Underwood Opens Up About Her Career Post ‘American Idol’ 

In a 2014 interview with Rolling Stone, Carrie Underwood shared details about her career after winning American Idol in 2005.

“Now I have a lot more confidence in myself as an artist and a songwriter. And now we just have a lot more time to make sure everything is perfect and the way I want it.”

While also chatting about fellow female country singers, Carrie Underwood stated she felt like there’s been a lot lately about women in the country music genre. “But I honestly think it’s a struggle that we’ve been faced with our a long time. For decades. [Male country singers] have always outnumbered the females.”

Carrie Underwood then admitted that she is constantly asked why she thinks the popularity among male country singers is more well known than country female singers. “I have no idea. It’s certainly not for lack of talent.”

Jason Aldean Talks New Collaboration With Carrie Underwood 

While chatting with iHeart Country last month, Jason Aldean opened up about his new music collaboration with Carrie Underwood for the song If I Didn’t Love You. “I’m usually not a guy into doing real sappy-type love songs – not that this is sappy. It’s more of a kind of breaking up and getting over it kind of song.”

Aldean also said the his and Carrie Underwood’s song is kind of a love song for him. He also said duets like Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers and Tim McGraw and Faith Hill inspired the need to perform with Underwood. When you get it, it’s really cool.”

Carrie Underwood and Jason Aldean released If I Didn’t Love You on July 23rd. The song is notably the first single from Aldean’s upcoming tenth studio album.
