Country superstar Carrie Underwood looks like she thoroughly enjoys being back on stage. And there’s no doubt that country music fans thoroughly enjoy seeing her up there.

Fans made their way to the Twin Cities Summer Jam in Shakopee on Friday to see the one and only Carrie Underwood perform. The popular festival was in danger of being canceled not all that long ago thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. But thankfully, the show was able to go on.

With COVID-19 concerns behind them, roughly 13,000 maskless country fans lined up and packed into the Canterbury inner field. This time, though, they only had their usual concert-goer concerns. Things like long lines and intense heat.

The latter of those two things was most definitely a concern for everyone. Not only among fans in the audience but even for the country stars themselves. After jamming the night away, Carrie Underwood took to social media to post some shots from the show. Luckily, a photographer was able to snap some pictures of her before she “melted.”

“Such a fun night in Minnesota @tcsummerjam!!! These pics were taken before I completely melted,” Underwood captioned her post on Twitter. “But we were all sweaty hot messes together! So good to be back at it! Thanks, MN for bringing the HEAT! #TCSummerJam”

Carrie Underwood Headlines Minnesota’s Biggest Music Festival

After the event was canceled last year, this year’s goal was for it to be the Twin Cities’ biggest multi-day music festival. Organizers of the event no doubt had their hands full trying to put together one of the city’s biggest shows since the COVID-19 pandemic began. The big news came back in May when Minnesota’s Governor Tim Walz lifted the capacity restrictions on outdoor gatherings. That allowed the venue to operate at full capacity.

Summer Jam CEO Jerry Braam talked about the opportunity to enjoy live music again in a recent statement.

“We have a wonderful opportunity to bring people back together to enjoy live music,” Braam said. “This really will be the event of the summer, and one that will be remembered for years to come.”

Carrie Underwood was the country star who headlined the festival on Friday. But there were several other stars who made performances over the weekend as well. The Twin Cities Summer Jam featured major headliner names like Underwood, the Zac Brown Band, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. As for other supporting artists who performed, that list includes names such as Ashley McBryde, Brett Young, Kip Moore, Niko Moon, and more.

Another cool note — there was even a side stage that allowed two local Minnesota artists to perform each day.

The festival was sponsored by companies like Bud Light, Canterbury Park, Mystic Lake, iHeartMedia, and several others.
