Carrie Underwood is hopeful and ready to get back to business.

Last year was a big year for Underwood. She gave birth to her second son, and also pulled off one of her biggest tours. The “Cry Pretty Tour 360” featured various opening acts, a hydraulic, in-the-round stage, and of course, countless costume changes.

Sadly, those are the days of the past as country music artists find themselves no longer touring due to the pandemic. Underwood expresses her feelings in a recent interview with People.

“I miss the fans so much!” she says. “We got to see so many of them out on tour last year, and it was such a magical year. To not know when we’ll have that back is a lot to take in, but hopefully, we can be back out there again before too long.”

Carrie Underwood Christmas Album

Even though she’s not performing any live shows, that hasn’t stopped the “American Idol” alum from producing new music. Underwood’s Christmas record came early, a “gift” she tells her followers. The album titled “My Gift” features 11 songs in total.

Her first-ever holiday album features John Legend and her 5-year-old son Isaiah. Underwood even co-wrote two of the three original songs. And what’s more, she even includes some timeless traditional songs on “My Gift.”

The country star’s Christmas album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Country, Christian, and Holiday charts. This album is the eighth from Underwood to debut at No. 1 on Billboard’s country chart. As a matter of fact, it also debuted at No.1 in the United Kingdom and Canada on their country charts.

Underwood Talks Christmas Plans

As Underwood’s album states, it’s her Favorite Time of Year. She says she spends the season decorating with her family. This includes husband, Mike Fisher, and two sons Isaiah, 5, and Jacob, 21 months.

Christmas is an obsession of hers and that perhaps explains why the holiday album was released in September. Underwood also says that Christmas plans can be difficult when you have families in two different countries. She’s referencing the fact that her husband, a former hockey star, is of Canadian descent.

“Most of our family lives in Oklahoma and Canada, so we usually spend a lot of time during the holidays traveling,” she says.  “For all of the challenges this year has presented, it’s been a surprisingly busy and productive time, and we are very grateful for all we do have.”

Christmas can be a stressful time of year for the star, but she’s hoping that with her new holiday album, things will be a bit smoother.
