This continues to be Chris Stapleton’s season. The fall has been very kind to him and now he can say that Tennessee Whiskey is certified diamond!

The RIAA made the certification today and it is a huge milestone. Only two other acts in country music can claim to have done the same. Considering the history of the song, it is an even more impressive feat than it first appears to be.

While there have been 15 certified diamond albums in country music history, this is only the third time a single has made it to that certification. Honestly, it is now a fun trivia question. What three songs labeled as “country” music have been certified diamond? The answer? Florida Georgia Line’s Cruise. Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road. And now, Chris Stapleton’s Tennessee Whiskey.

Chris Stapleton isn’t the first artist to sing the song, either. David Allan Coe recorded the single for his 1981 album with the same name. Then, country music legend George Jones cut a version of the song. Jones took it to No.2 on the charts in ’83. However, Stapleton has taken the song to new heights. 10 million units sold. Just insanely impressive.

This is not the only honor that Stapleton has earned in recent months. He absolutely killed the Country Music Association Awards. The diamond singer took home four awards of five that he was nominated for.

Stapleton On Top of Country Music World

Right now, Chris Stapleton has to feel like he is on top of the country music world. He has been performing sold-out shows, is putting out new music consistently, racking up awards everywhere he goes, and now earning diamond certification. There isn’t anything that can stop his current run.

Seriously, don’t expect the train to stop at the end of 2021. 2022 is going to be all Stapleton as well more than likely. At the CMAs he took home Album, Song, Single, and Male Vocalist of the year. The young and energetic Luke Combs took home Entertainer of the Year which Stapleton was also nominated for. He also won Album of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards.

Now, he has three nominations to look forward to at the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards.

Chris Stapleton Knows How to Win Awards

This is a remarkable statistic, but Stapleton has won more than 50% of the major awards he has been nominated for. Out of 95 nominations, he has won 50 awards. That is a very good rate. There are a lot of artists that would kill for that kind of resume at awards shows.

The last time that Chris Stapleton won a Grammy was back in 2018. He won three back then. He is nominated for the exact same three categories as he was back then with From A Room: Volume 1.
