On Friday, CMT announced presenters for the 2020 CMT Music Awards, and also shared the news that country singer Ashley McBryde will be a co-host of the awards show.
The winner of the 2019 CMT Breakthrough Video of the Year award will join country artist Kane Brown and Modern Family star Sarah Hyland as co-hosts. During a previous announcement earlier this month, CMT said the awards show would have four co-hosts. However, the network changed those plans and is sticking with three hosts for the Oct. 21 event.
Additionally, McBryde and Brown will each take the stage to perform some of their hits during the event. McBryde will have her hands full on the night. She is also one of the artists with the most nominations at the 2020 CMT Music Awards.
“I am beyond excited, and maybe a little nervous, to host an awards show for the very first time. Luckily, it’s not all about me,” McBryde shared in a press release. “It’s about celebrating badass music videos and the brilliant men and women that help us create them. I’ve loved watching and being part of this event in the past. I think the fans are really going to enjoy what we have planned for them. It’s going to be a blast!”
CMT Announces Kane Brown and Sarah Hyland as Co-Hosts
In addition to McBryde, Brown and Hyland were previously announced as the first two co-hosts of the 2020 CMT Music Awards. It will be all three stars first time hosting the event.
“The CMT Music Awards have always been about bringing the fans and their favorite artists together to celebrate. I have so many great memories of the show,” said Brown in a press release earlier this month. “From watching as a fan at home to accepting my first industry award win on the CMT stage. I’m excited to join this year as a first-time host and can’t wait for everyone to see the amazing performances that are lined up this year.”
In addition, Brown is a two-time 2020 CMT Music Awards nominee who will also perform during the event. His co-host Hyland shared her excitement for being involved in the awards show in the announcement.
“I’m so excited to be co-hosting the 2020 CMT Music Awards this year!” Hyland explained. “Fans are the backbone of music and art; without them we would never be able to do what we love. I can’t wait to see what happens at this year’s show and who the fans vote for.”
On Sept. 23, the network announced the nominees for the fan-voted award show. Fans can still vote for each of the award show’s categories. In fact, you can vote right HERE.
The 2020 CMT Music Awards were originally scheduled for June. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the awards show will now air on Oct. 21 at 9 PM EST on CMT.
