Kelsea Ballerini and Halsey rocked this year’s CMT Awards with an unexpected bartop tribute to ‘Coyote Ugly’, and Twitter is here for it, alongside the artists’ lasting friendship.
“I can totally tell your friendship is gonna last forever. Do you two have any intentions on making more music together anytime soon? ❤️” Twitter user @CaleighAMiller comments on Keslea Ballerini’s latest status.

The friendship she mentions? That’d be between none other than Ballerini and Halsey – two huge stars of 2020’s music scene. The pair united for the recording of “The Other Girl”, and then to perform the song for this year’s CMT Awards.
And it was electric. The two “real life friends” went full-Nashville for a Coyote Ugly tribute. As a result, their fans are absolutely lighting up Twitter.
Kelsea Ballerini kicks things off today with a tweet of her own. Within, she shows herself and Halsey getting all cuddly during the recording of “The Other Girl”. “How it started,” she says of the first pic. “How it’s going,” she continues for the shot of their Coyote Ugly tribute:
Sharp fans, however, are pushing this comparison way back. The two music stars have plenty of photographic evidence on social media documenting their days together before they were household names. Leave it to Twitter fans to dig ’em up – and showcase how “real” their friendship is:

User @badlandsrain jumps in for another comparison, as well. For hers, she’s got a strikingly old-school shot of Ballerini and Halsey knocking out some dirty dive karaoke:

In an interview with CMT’s Cody Alan, the friends divulge just how well they get along. The two couldn’t be more different, one would think. A New Jersey born pop starlet and a Tennessee native country singer – as BFFs?
“I think that what we do now makes where we come from feel, not all that different. Kelsea and I are the types to be like, “Do you want to go get a burger and hang out at my house?” Halsey tells CMT.
“And not talk about anything that’s like, “work”?” Ballerini answers in a true best friend move of finishing her sentence.
“So, that’s Jersey, and that’s Tennessee. That’s where we come from, its working-class people.”
And work their friendship does:
