He’s ready to speak his mind! Country artist Cody Johnson shared his thoughts about Hollywood opinion during one of his concerts at the Ryman Auditorium this weekend.
While gearing up to perform his hit single “Doubt Me Now,” Cody reportedly shared his thoughts about the opinions in Hollywood. “What I’m tired of is people in Hollywood thinking their opinion matters because they have a blue check next to their name on Twitter,” Johnson rallies, with fans cheering him on. “I’m gonna say this one time: I don’t care if you’re left, I don’t care if you’re right, I don’t care whether you are black, brown, or white. the only colors that matter right here are the United States – red, white, and blue.”
Cody doesn’t stop there and continues, “You may not have liked the last president. You may not like this president. All I’m gonna tell you is this: Men and women of all shapes and sizes, of all colors, of all backgrounds, get up every day. They put on a police officer’s uniform or a firefighter’s uniform. They go sit in a sandbox in Iraq or Afghanistan for the freedom to be here today. And let me just say this: Everybody that wants to run their mouth about this country online, let me tell you this. I got friends that didn’t come home. I got friends that came home, and they never came home in their minds, for you to have the freedom to have an opinion in the first place.”
Cody Also Offers Advice to Fans During Concert
The country singer also gave his fans some key advice, turn off the TV. “I got a challenge for you,” Cody Johnson says to the crowd. “When you tun on three different news stations, and all they want to preach is negativity. All they want to tell you is how this country’s going: ‘be fearful,’ ‘you should be scared,’ ‘don’t go outside.’ Turn the news station off. When you’ve got people in your life that want to run down the United States of America, turn ‘em off. You will not miss ‘em, I promise.”
Cody refers to his fans as CoJo Nation and has credited them as the “driving force” behind success.
Cody Johnson’s Rise to Country Stardom
Johnson began his country music career in 2006 and has self-released six albums, followed by his major-label album “Ain’t Nothin’ To It.” Johnson’s sixth album, “Gotta Be Me,” made its debut at No. 2 on Billboard’s Country Album chart, while the seventh album reached No. 1.
Cody recently released his new duet, “Sad Songs and Waltzes” with country legend Willie Nelson. Johnson also released “’Till You Can’t” and “Longer Than She Did” singles. Speaking about the new singles, Johnson says, “I chose to record ‘Til You Can’t’ first because of the positivity in the message of the song. In our world today, we could use more positivity. The song, penned by Ben Stennis and Matt Rogers, is described as an infectious tempo that starts quietly then builds along with Johnson’s advice: take the chances, chase the dreams, bait those lines, put that diamond on her hand, and take those calls from your mama as long as you can, until you can’t.
