Country Throwback: Chris Stapleton Crushes Song He Wrote for Luke Bryan ‘Drink a Beer’

Country music singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton was writing songs as part of the Nashville scene for others before his recent success.

One of his songs, “Drink A Beer,” became a big hit for Luke Bryan. He actually wrote that song for Bryan along with Jim Beavers.

Bryan’s fans just love hearing him perform that song. It was released in November 2013.

“Drink A Beer” is a country song filled with emotion, something that comes across when Stapleton sings it.

Here is Chris Stapleton performing an acoustic version of the song in 2015.

Chris Stapleton Calls Family Time ‘Privilege and a Gift’

Chris Stapleton got to be home more this year with his wife Morgane and their five children. It’s an experience that Stapleton called an early Christmas present.

When he’s not releasing albums, Stapleton has spent this year changing diapers. The singer traded his guitar for baby wipes. But Stapleton couldn’t be happier being a family man.

“I get ’em all up every morning and make ’em breakfast and watch ’em run around, you know,” Stapleton said. “It’s a special thing to get to do. What a privilege and a gift, in a year that on the surface might seem very devoid of gifts.”

Not all his children still wear diapers, though. Chris Stapleton said he really got to know them as a parent and is thankful for the extra time at home.

“You get to really check in with — my older children are 11 and 10…so there’s all kinds of new personality and emotional space to explore with them,” Stapleton continued. “It’s really interesting to talk to them and hear their takes on things, their likes, and dislikes, and they’re very opinionated.”

Stapleton Embraces Level Of Privacy For Family

“I signed up for this,” Stapleton told. “My children did not. I am a very private person, and in that respect, I keep my children out of it. They’re children, and they deserve the chance to be children. My wife comes out (in the public eye), and she’s an adult, so she can choose to do that. My children did not make that choice, and (talking about them in detail in public) is, for me, kind of off-limits.”

The family welcomed a new addition in 2019. Stapleton and his family live on a farm and planned to spend the holiday enjoying the simple things of life.

“We’ll probably just stay at the house, put up a Christmas tree, eat too much and take a nap on the couch,” he said.
