Country Throwback: George Strait Sings ‘Boot Scootin’ Boogie’ at Brooks & Dunn ‘Last Rodeo’ in 2010

George Strait took to the stage in 2010 to pay tribute to Brooks & Dunn, one of his favorite country duos. The performance was one of many during the duo’s ACM “Last Rodeo” event.

“People ask me all the time, ‘Who do I listen to?’” Strait said as he took the stage. “I answer them with three short words: Brooks & Dunn. Honest. On one hand, it was easy for me to choose a song to perform tonight because I know most of your hits by heart. On the other hand, it’s very difficult because there’s so many to pick from. But, I had to decide and I think I’m pretty lucky because I ended up with one of the most memorable Brooks & Dunn songs. I’m going to do a little ‘Boot Scootin’ Boogie.’”

Strait and the band then break out into the popular country hit. Kix Brooks even joins in with his harmonica from his seat on the side of the stage. Ronnie Dunn also clearly enjoys the country legend’s take on the song.

The “Last Rodeo” event was a celebration of Brooks & Dunn’s many successful years on the country music scene and was billed as a farewell concert after the duo announced plans to call it quits the previous year, according to Taste of Country. However, the duo joined forces once again – this time in 2015 in Las Vegas. There, they performed with country legend Reba McEntire in a show billed as “Reba, Brooks & Dunn: Together in Vegas.”

George Strait Asks Fans to Support Road Crews

Recently, George Strait and Chris Stapleton asked music fans to make donations to road crews on Giving Tuesday. According to previous reports, the country music stars both promoted organizations that are helping those employees who aren’t working because the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the cancellation of shows.
