Country and pop music, at times, cross paths. This happened a lot on “CMT Crossroads” and one episode features Keith Urban and John Mayer.
Back in 2010, Urban was still filling up the country music charts with hit song after hit song. He and John Mayer team up to perform Urban’s “Til Summer Comes Around,” which peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s Hot Country charts. It comes off of Urban’s “Defying Gravity” album.
The song, written by Urban and Monty Powell, reflects on a lover and his beloved spending summertime at places like the boardwalk. It also speaks about being a lover in wintertime, waiting for those summer moments to come back along with his beloved.
He promises to wait for her in town. As the song progresses, the lover is still awaiting her return.
Keith Urban, John Meyer Deliver Powerful Performance
Urban, who is married to actress Nicole Kidman, and Mayer put on quite a performance for the “CMT Crossroads” audience.
Their guitar work is impressive as both share their musical gifts with the world.
This particular episode comes from the show’s ninth season on CMT and is this season’s second episode. It originally aired on June 18, 2010.
Sit back for a few minutes and enjoy their rendition of Urban’s hit song “Til Summer Comes Around.”
Urban Reveals Why He Thought He ‘Peaked’ in 2005
Obviously, nothing lasts forever. Keith Urban recognizes that and he believed that 2005 might’ve included the highest peaks in his life.
Keith appeared on SiriusXM’s “Exit 209 With Storme Warren” podcast in December 2020 to promote the song “One Too Many” featuring P!NK. When asked what he considers the highlights of his life are, the most meaningful responses came first.
Urban first said meeting and marrying Nicole Kidman. Of course, the couple welcoming their two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, into the world. He also explained how he was thankful to have found sobriety before the start of his career.
However, 16 years ago, Keith Urban was ready to hang up his hat when it came to being a musician.
“In 2005, when I was nominated at the CMAs for Male Vocal and Entertainer of the Year in the same year and won them both, it was too overwhelming to me,” Urban explained. “I was terrified that I’d won Entertainer of the Year so soon. Because I thought, well, that’s it, that’s the end of the career. I’ve peaked.”
However, Keith Urban has continued to gain award after award. Nearly 20 of his singles have reached No. 1 on the country charts, and he’s achieved many Gold and Platinum records.
