Country Throwback: Shania Twain Headlines 2017 Stagecoach Country Music Festival

In this country throwback, we’re daydreaming of country princess Shania Twain’s magical set at the 2017 Stagecoach festival.

Shania Twain was the headling performance on the Mane Stage during the Stagecoach Country Music Festival in California.

On Friday, Twain took to Instagram to express how much she enjoyed playing Stagecoach, writing, ‘this show was SO fun.’ The post also included another one of our favorites, Kelsea Ballerini. The two performed ‘Any Man of Mine’ together during the Stagecoach set.

Twain took the stage on the second night of the country music festival. Before this, it had been 15 years since she released an album and 11 years since she was on tour.

At 51 years old, this was her first time headlining the country music festival. But on that Saturday evening, she made it clear to her fans and the world: she wasn’t going anywhere.

Twain kicked her set off with nothing less than a bang (she literally used fireworks), beginning with “Rock This Country”. She then went straight into “Honey, I’m Home” and “You Win My Love.”

The old school pro commanded the stage and her audience. She had no problem utilizing the giant stage with its high risers, light-up stairs, and catwalk.

She kept the energy high as fans sang along with her on “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under,” “I Ain’t No Quitter”, and “Love Gets Me Every Time.”

Country Music Girl Power: Kelsea Ballerini & Shania Twain

When she invited Ballerini to the stage, the two were iconic together. Their vocals were effortless and perfect. They even had their dance moves in sync.

This wouldn’t be the last time the two linked up. For instance, the duo recently teamed up together when they released a new version of Ballerini’s ‘Hole in the Bottle.’

Twain gave a nod to her fans when she wrote on Instagram, “There was DEFINITELY a hole in the bottle that night,” referencing their recent work.

In a tweet, Twain spoke highly of Ballerini, writing, “Kelsea is an incredible singer-songwriter, I’m so glad she reached out to me to do Hole In The Bottle,” Twain wrote on Twitter. “Everything about this song is totally my vibe and really speaks to my sense of humor! Loved working on this with you @KelseaBallerini.”

Additionally, Twain brought out Nick Jonas near the end of her set. This didn’t make the female fans in the audience any less excited as the two performed “Party For Two.” If they weren’t already, the addition of the former Jonas Brother had girls totally immersed in the performance.

Later on, she undeniably had everyone singing (and crying) along when she gave a perfect performance of “From This Moment On.”

Twain concluded her set with back-to-back performances of “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and “(If You’re Not In It For Love) I’m Outta Here!”

In place of an encore, Twain opted for spending her final moments with the audience, saying she was going to celebrate her performance by eating an entire bag of dill pickle potato chips. That is to say, as if we needed another reason to love her.

To end the evening, she concluded her set with her country-diva anthem, “Man! I Feel Like a Woman.”

Here’s hoping she headlines another festival sometime in 2021.
