While viewers were seeing country music singer Vince Gill and Gospel singer Amy Grant perform “House of Love,” there was a lot more going on.

Gill and Grant team up to perform this song on “The Tonight Show Starring Jay Leno” in 1994. While both had developed strong careers in their own right, the twosome actually was going through the early stages of forging a relationship.

See, they both were married at the time but those relationships weren’t holding up too much. Their initial contact happened when Gill agreed to perform on a video for Grant’s song “House of Love.”

Amy Grant Was Already Smitten With Vince Gill

“I think that a part of me loved him instantly,” Grant says. “I felt like I knew him instantly.”

Likewise, Gill was so inspired when he set eyes on Grant’s face that he wrote his touching song “Whenever You Come Around.”

At a 2015 show at the Ryman Auditorium, Gill gave some of the back story, saying, “This is a song that was inspired by a smile that I saw for the first time on the face of a woman that I’d never met. That was Amy Grant back in 1993.”

Take a few minutes and enjoy Gill and Grant teaming up on Grant’s hit song.

Gill Covered The Eagles Prior to Ever Joining Band

Vince Gill is the definition of hard work paying off. One goal of his came true when he joined the Eagles.

Gill has been called one of the greatest voices of all time, and one of the most gifted country guitarists. His songwriting skills have impacted millions of listeners. Some of those listeners include country legends like Merle Haggard, John Prine, Guy Clark, and many others.

He has won 21 Grammy Awards and has received more CMA trophies than most other artists. Gill is the singer of numerous classic songs. He is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Grand Ole Opry.

Gill paid tribute to his roots with a cover of an Eagles classic. At the time, many top country artists were involved in an Eagles tribute album “Common Thread: The Songs of the Eagles” released in 1993. The album took off, becoming No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Country Albums chart, and went Gold, Platinum, and Double Platinum. The album ended up being certified as Triple Platinum in 1994.

Gill joined the new lineup of the Eagles in 2017. The group was playing its first shows after the death of Glenn Frey along with Frey’s son, Deacon. He continues to perform with the group.
