Country music duo Dan + Shay are sharing some sweet memories from their first CMA Country Christmas event they attended in 2014.

A backstage photo showing the duo is up on their Twitter feed for their 500,000-plus followers to see.

Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney recently performed at the CMA Awards with Justin Bieber. Their music continues to touch many people around the world, including for the Christmas season.

Here’s their latest release, “Christmas Isn’t Christmas,” from their website.

Their own brand of country-pop music started gaining traction in 2013 as the duo started scoring hit after hit.

Songs like “Nothin’ Like You,” “From the Ground Up,” and “How Not To” found their way to Billboard’s No. 1 spot on the country music landscape in 2015 and 2016. They won a Grammy for Best Country Duo/Group Performance in 2019 for their song “Tequila.”

Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney hailed from different corners of the United States — Smyers came from Wexford, Pennsylvania, Mooney from Natural Dam, Arkansas — but they met in Nashville in December 2012.

Dan + Shay Love Texting Interaction With Fans

A rather unique way to stay in touch with their fans is through texting. Right on their Twitter account, Dan + Shay have a phone number from the 615 area code that their fans and followers can use to text them directly.

Obviously, fans have been texting the number and the music duo’s been responding. Some of the conversations are shared on Twitter.

This user shared a screenshot of the conversation that’s been exchanged. This fan writes, “Thank you for always giving it your all and making amazing music! Truly the best duo out there! Stay safe!”

Dan + Shay reply with “Thank you!! You too!” and “thanks for texting us!”
