Darius Rucker’s ‘Beers and Sunshine’ Hits No. 1, Singer Reacts with Gracious ‘Thank You’ Message

Darius Rucker is in a grateful mood these days. And, who can blame him? His single, “Beers and Sunshine” just hit No. 1 on the country charts.

In true Darius Rucker fashion, the singer reached out to his fans to thank them for their support for him and the single.

“#BeersandSunshine is #1 at country radio!! I can’t say think you enough to every single person who listened, played it, sang along and everything in between. THANK YOU!” Rucker posted on Twitter on Monday (Feb. 22). Check out the tweet below.

The singer’s fans were happy to celebrate with him via Twitter on Monday. “I called it–I said last summer that it would be. My only surprise is that it took this long–I thought it would reach number 1 within a week or two of its release. Congratulations–so well-deserved,” one fan posted.

“That’s my fave song in country music now! Some day I’ll be living in the Carolinas with my flip flops on on my back porch!#springtimeallyearround!” another fan said.

“This song has brought me so much happiness,” was another fan’s response.

Darius Rucker Gets Tenth No. 1 Hit with ‘Beers and Sunshine’

According to a press release by Universal Music Group Nashville, “Beers and Sunshine” is the tenth No. 1 hit of Darius Rucker’s career. Rucker wrote the song alongside Ross Copperman, J.T. Harding, and Josh Osborne. The collaborators reportedly wrote the song over Zoom.

Check out these lyrics:

“Beers and sunshine / Bonfires and summertime / Back porch nights in South Carolina / Ain’t nothing finer than me and my girl striking up a little lighter / ‘Cause everybody’s down in a world gone crazy / Don’t know how to fix it but I think maybe / Turn on the good times, turn off the TV / Yeah, the only BS I need is beers and sunshine.”

“Beers and Sunshine” is a song about enjoying what makes life worth living. Given how difficult the past year has been for so many people, such a song might be needed now more than ever.

“It’s certainly been a challenging year. Like a lot of people, when I got home from being on the road last March and we parked the tour bus for the foreseeable future, we had no idea what our future would actually look like,” Rucker said in the press release. “I don’t have the answers for how we fix the complex issues that we’re facing in our country or in Country music, however while we work through this time I think it’s important that we balance the heaviness by finding the silver lining, where we can really enjoy the simple joys this song talks about like time spent together with friends and family.”

Darius Rucker is reportedly working on a new album. He is scheduled to appear on “Today” on Friday, Feb. 25, according to the press release.
