For some, the Halloween season starts after the Fourth of July. Some folks think it’s a one-night affair. It looks like Darius Rucker falls somewhere between the two. He got himself into the holiday spirit a few days early by scaring some patrons at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Nashville earlier this week.

Let’s face it, wax museums can be a little creepy without any Halloween pranks. The lifelike wax figures of famous people stare blankly at you as you walk by. Some of them are so realistic that they look like they’ll start moving as soon as you take your eyes off of them. Darius Rucker must have had this in mind when he went to the Grand Ole Opry section of Madame Tussauds.

The wax museum’s Grand Ole Opry exhibit features a recreation of the iconic stage packed with figures of country stars. Darius Rucker grabbed a microphone, took a spot on the stage, and struck a pose. He stood stone still until patrons made their way through the exhibit, just waiting for the chance to get a good scare. From their reactions, it seems like this trick was a treat for everyone involved. Rucker shared a video of his spooky shenanigans on Twitter. Check it out and kick off your Halloween weekend with a laugh.

He might have gotten into the Halloween spirit by turning the Opry exhibit into his personal haunted house, but Darius Rucker isn’t done with the holiday just yet.

Darius Rucker’s Halloween Plans

Darius Rucker has three kids, so Halloween is going to be a big deal at his house. He recently told Taste of Country that his family is doing something he never thought they would do this year. They’re dressing up their dog. Rucker said, “My kids have decided that our dog is their sister, so we were at the Halloween store the other day, and I actually OK’d a Halloween costume for the dog. I never thought I was going to be that guy.”

He went on to say that he used to make fun of his friends for putting clothes on their dogs. “I would make sure I would text them about how idiotic their dog looked. Now, I’m going to have a dog that’s going to be like a Roman Gladiator or something.” It’s funny how much a few years and a handful of kids can change just about anyone.

Darius Rucker has come a long way. When he was a kid, football season and Halloween presented a conflict and he didn’t want to miss out on either. So, young Darius would go straight from football practice to trick or treating. Now, he’s celebrating with pranks and dog costumes.
