Kate Quigley, a reported ex-girlfriend of singer Darius Rucker, spoke out after a drug party put her in the hospital and killed three others.

PopCulture reported that her comedian friend Ben Redban shared a screenshot of a text Quigley sent about her status.

In the text, she tells Redban she’s “alive but not the best.”

The comedienne and model overdosed with three others from a mix of cocaine and fentanyl. According to The New York Post, the victims did not know fentanyl was present in the drugs.

The four people were at a Los Angeles-area house party. TMZ said that Quigley was found unconscious and transported to a hospital where she was in critical condition. Three others, including a close Quigley friend, died.

Redban also posted a picture of himself with Quigley on Twitter. The photo is captioned with Redban asking his followers to “give love to my dear friend @KateQFunny.” He ends the message with a sad emoji.

Darius Rucker’s Ex In Party That Gets Out Of Hand

Partygoers at the Venice home became concerned, and calls for help went out soon after midnight.

Early reports said the victims died from fentanyl-laced cocaine. It’s not clear if Los Angeles police will file charges over the incident. The reported party was next to Quigley’s home.

Quigley’s close friend and comedian Fuquan Johnson, 42, was found dead at the scene. Enrico Colangeli and Natalie Williamson were also pronounced dead at the scene.

Quigley grew up in Ohio and studied theater before heading to Los Angeles. She’s worked in comedy clubs and landed a few acting roles with spots on “Star Trek: Hidden Frontier,” “Guber,” and “The Office” series. She also hosted Playboy TV’s “Undercover” and the 2016 AVN Awards.

Darius Rucker’s involvement with Quigley is known to have been short. The two dated earlier this summer, according to a Rucker representative. The former Hootie and the Blowfish singer got divorced from Beth Leonard last year.

The 55-year-old singer-songwriter has three children, two daughters, and one son.

Quigley, Other Stars Suffer From Fentanyl Use

While Darius Rucker’s ex-girlfriend Quigley heals in the hospital, other significant stars have not been so lucky while taking the drug.

Prince, Tom Petty, and Mac Miller have died from the drug. Reportedly, it’s 100 times more potent than heroin.

In 2019, the drug was a cause of more than two-thirds of all New York City drug overdoses.

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, a fentanyl victim can suffer serious side effects and life-threatening symptoms. First, breathing can slow or stop with brain damage imminent. The condition is called hypoxia. A victim can slip into a coma, suffer permanent brain damage, and even death.

Medical professionals use Naloxone to treat overdose victims. The drug works to block the opioid’s effects on a victim.

Because of fentanyl’s potency, a victim may need multiple doses of Naloxone.
