You know that sinking feeling when your team’s getting absolutely slaughtered. You’re hoping for a comeback, biting your nails and grabbing those lucky socks that haven’t been washed in a week. But in the end, you know this isn’t gonna help. Country music singer Darius Rucker is right there with you today – and he has some choice words we can all relate to once in awhile.

“Football sucks!!!!!!!” Rucker tweets.

This comes after the Miami Dolphins got smashed by the Buffalo Bills in a 35-0 loss. The singer posted several photos of himself decked out in Dolphin gear sharing the hashtag “FinsUp” while attending the game.

It may take a few extra beers to swallow the loss, but hang in there, Darius! It’s still early in the season. Plenty of football left.

Darius Rucker a Die-Hard Dolphins Fan

While country music star Darius Rucker has built a pretty prominent career singing tunes every American can get behind, he loves to occupy his free time with football history.

The big-time Dolphins’ fan grew up idolizing the Miami team. His admiration and appreciation for former quarterback Dan Marino goes a long way back. Rucker even named his daughter Dani after the Miami QB.

Now that “I’m such a baby, yeah, the dolphins make me cry” line makes a whole lot of sense. The line appears in the former “Hootie” song “Only Wanna Be With You” 90s tune.

Rucker explains his love for the team and his nostalgic memories of the team.

“When I was five years old, the Dolphins played the Dallas Cowboys in the Super Bowl and they lost and my whole family was pulling for the Cowboys,” Rucker said. “I said I loved the Dolphins and I started pulling for them and I became a big fan. The next year they went undefeated. It was awesome. It was great and all through the years, they’ve had such great players and I’ve gotten to be friends with my favorite player. My favorite athlete of all time is Dan Marino and it all came from my love of the Dolphins.”

Further, earlier this fall, Rucker made a wild prediction about the Dolphins claiming the Super Bowl trophy in 2022. Will his prediction come to fruition? If today’s game is any indication, it’s not looking great. But like we said, there’s a lot of football left.

So, all you Dolphins fans out there, keep your head up! It’s an even playing field next week as the Dolphins take on the Las Vegas Raiders at 1:05 p.m.

In the meantime, head on over to Twitter and give Darius Rucker an encouraging shout-out.
