Dierks Bentley and his wife Cassidy are celebrating their 15th anniversary. But they’ve known each other way longer than a decade and a half. Believe it or not, the two actually met in middle school.
Of course, back then Bentley was way too immature for Cassidy. After meeting at Ingleside Middle School, the two tried dating in high school. But young love was not to be. Bentley was wild and spent his time back then drinking beer and “blowing things up.”
But Bentley never forgot Cassidy, even as he became a country music star. His heart belonged to her. While on the road or in Nashville, he would send Cassidy letters professing his love for her. Finally, Black decided to attend one of his shows in Las Vegas. And the two have been together ever since.
“That’s why I married her! I was worried I’d get blackmailed with those letters!” Bentley told The Boot.
Dierks Bentley and Cassidy Black Married in Mexico
In Dec. 2005, the couple became engaged and married in a matter of days. The two eloped to a little chapel in Mexico after the usually busy Bentley ended his tour for the wedding.
“I ended that tour in Las Vegas, playing the House of Blues, and we went to Mexico, and three days later, we got married,” Bentley told E! News. “Probably one of the things I’m most grateful for is some of the success coming later as it has because it’s really nice to share it with somebody. When it starts, it’s so nice to share a lot of ups, a lot of downs, a lot of in-between moments with her. It’s been a crazy, crazy ride.”
Since then, Black has been the inspiration for several of Bentley’s songs including “Women Amen” and “Black,” for which she appeared in the music video. The couple shares three children together. Recently, they’ve been social distancing in Colorado where they occasionally use paintballing as a form of couple’s therapy.
