The singer recently revealed that his first ever concert was not a country music concert. Instead, the singer saw an Arizona show featuring Bon Jovi and Skid Row. Bentley would later commit himself to the country music genre when he was 17-year-old.

“At 13, a friend introduced me to an electric guitar. I didn’t even know you were allowed to play an electric guitar. Didn’t know they existed,” Bentley says. “But he had all the pedals that made all the sounds. And I started getting into all the music those guitars play.”

The singer also notes that he dedicated himself fully to country music after a friend introduced him to Hank Williams Jr. He also says his father was a fan of the country music genre.

DeGeneres often invites country music artist to her show to perform. Legendary country music singer Garth Brooks even hosted an episode of the show recently.

Brooks says he very much enjoys hosting the show and has a new found appreciation for what it takes to pull a television show.

“Man it was fun. It was a lot of fun,” Brooks answers. “Man I did not know it was that much. There was like 8,000 things going on all at once. I have to tell you the crew, the writers, the producers…it takes a whole village to pull that (show) off. She (Ellen) has the sweetest, hardest working people around her. Everyone was very, very sweet.”
