Every week it seems that Dolly Parton has done something new. Now, she has broken three Guinness World Records for her country music accomplishments.
Parton was presented with the world records in Nashville, Tennessee. One of the world records was one she already held, but she broke it once again. At 75 years old, the 9 to 5 singer has been a force in country music across six decades. From the 1960s to the 2020s. That is longevity in action.
Her two brand new Guinness World Records are for the most decades on the Billboard US Hot Country Songs chart (7). She also has the most No.1 hits at 25. Both of those records are for a female artist. Just impressive to think about.
In the process, Dolly Parton was also able to take down her own world record. She now has 109 songs that have made it to the Billboard list and that number is likely to grow if she keeps at it. The Queen of Country doesn’t seem like she is ready to slow up or stop any time soon.
It all started back in 1967 with her hits Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde. She rose to fame and has been riding a rocket ever since. Her latest hits are a duet with Reba McEntire Does He Love You. Also making an appearance on the Billboard list, Cuddle Up, Cozy Down Christmas. The Michael Bublé song was released last year but has made a resurgence this holiday season.
Dolly Parton Talks World Records with Guinness
Of course, Dolly had to talk about her world records. She had an interview with Guinness World Records and she was “flattered and honored.” Awards and records are no strange thing for Parton, that’s for sure.
“This is the kind of stuff that really makes you very humble and very grateful for everything that’s happened. I had no idea that I would be in Guinness World Records this many times! I am flattered and honored,” Dolly Parton said. “I’ve had a lot of people help me get here. Thanks to all of you and all of them for helping me have all of this.”
It is no surprise that Parton has thanks to give to others. She is humble in moments where others wouldn’t be. That is clear again with these new world records. The thing that keeps her successful… doing what she loves for the genre that she loves.
“I’ve loved being able to make a living in the business that I love so much. I’ve been so fortunate to see my dreams come true, and I just hope to continue for as long as I can. You’re going to have to knock me down to stop me!”
It doesn’t look like anyone is going to knock Dolly Parton down any time soon.
