Dolly Parton has no trouble dealing with fame.
The legendary songstress has been called “humble” by countless people, and for good reason. In a 2018 interview with The Boot, she spoke about dealing with fame and how to handle going out in public with her recognizable face.
“I’ve managed to know how to go anywhere I want to go, do anything I want to do … I know what time of day I can go shop. I know what time of day I can go to restaurants and what types of restaurants to go to,” she revealed.
The best part? Dolly Parton doesn’t mind when fans do come up and greet her. Furthermore, she believes that the price of being an artist and gaining notoriety comes with the territory.
“And I don’t mind people recognizing me and being cordial, speaking to me,” she added. “I’m not one of those artists who wants to run from the public. It’s a small price to pay, considering I’ve seen my dreams come true.”
Dolly Parton’s Husband and His Privacy
Firstly, Dolly Parton has been married to her husband Carl Dean for 55 years and has been together for 57. He has been kept out of the spotlight and at times, hasn’t been photographed by paparazzi for decades. She revealed to Entertainment Tonight that he doesn’t want to be in the public eye.
“It’s just not who he is,” she told the outlet. “He’s like, a quiet, reserved person and he figured if he ever got out there in that, he’d never get a minute’s peace and he’s right about that.”
Dolly Parton has tried her best to keep him out of the spotlight as much as possible. She said that she respects and appreciates his decision to remain normal.
“He said, ‘I didn’t choose this world, I chose you, and you chose that world. But we can keep our lives separate and together.’ And we do and we have,” she said at the time.
People joke about the fact that Dean isn’t real since he’s not seen often. Parton has a theory as to why their relationship has lasted so long with the two completely different lifestyles. She believes it’s because she is often gone for work.
“The fact that we’re not in each other’s faces all the time,” Parton shared. “But we do have a great respect and admiration for each other. We both have a great sense of humor. So, we have a lot of fun.”
The one thing that they do enjoy is going on RV trips and do their best to steer clear of parties and crowds.
