Dolly Parton Fitness App Makes Us Reconsider Hatred For Brisk Walking Exercises

Dolly Parton wants you to take a walk with her. It’ll be good for you. You’ll have fun. Promise.

Parton is one of several celebrities from the world of music, movies, sports and TV who are part of “Time to Walk.” It’s a new walking experience for Apple Watch for Fitness+ subscribers. Apple created it to get users to walk more. Stars like Dolly Parton tell inspiring stories to keep you wanting to do more. And why not Dolly? She’s kept herself in fantastic shape.

Here’s Parton’s Instagram post, urging her 3.9 million followers:

“Take a walk with me as I share stories from my life in a brand new #TimetoWalk episode on @applefitnessplus!”

What Is Dolly Parton Asking Us To Do?

Dolly Parton isn’t the only celebrity to provide her stories for the app. So is pop star Shawn Mendes, NBA star Draymond Green and actress Uzo Aduba. She played “Crazy Eyes” from “Orange Is The New Black.” No doubt she’s got some great stories, given that Aduba also was a sprinter for Boston University.

There will be a new episode each Monday until the end of April.

Dolly Parton said she’s always walked.

“I’ve loved walking ever since I was a little girl in the Smoky Mountains,” Parton said. “I think it’s so important to be able to get out and walk if we can during this time. I do my best thinking when I walk.

“And while many of us feel confined during this time, I’m hopeful that people will take a walk down memory lane with me and we can all feel a little more freedom taking the time to walk together.”

Parton’s episode features the country icon telling stories about her career and family. She’ll also talk about growing up in Tennessee.

All you need to participate is an Apple Watch and a set of bluetooth headphones. The joy of walking is you can do it anywhere, whether it’s picking up steps around your house, your neighborhood, the local park or even the mall.

“Walking is the most popular physical activity in the world, and one of the healthiest things we can do for our bodies,” said Jay Blahnik, Apple’s senior director of Fitness Technologies. “A walk can often be more than just exercise: It can help clear the mind, solve a problem, or welcome a new perspective.”

So take a stroll with Dolly Parton. You can burn some calories and some stress.
