Dolly Parton has given her fans so many things. There are her numerous hit songs. There are her many philanthropic causes – the Imagination Library, for example. And, don’t forget Dollywood – the theme park she created in her Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, community.

According to a recent report, this country music icon also has another gift in mind for her fans. However, this present can’t be opened until 2045.

That report was shared by Taste of Country in January 2021. And, it involves a song that the public has yet to hear. And, if Dolly Parton’s wishes are fulfilled, no one will hear this song until 2045.

So, why choose the date 2045? Well, it is 30 years after the grand opening of the Dollywood DreamMore Resort. That event took place during the summer of 2015.

The unheard Dolly Parton track is reportedly being stored in a secure box at that Dollywood DreamMore Resort. The song is to remain unheard and unreleased until 2045.

That leaves country music fans – and music fans worldwide – wondering what Dolly Parton wanted to express with this mysterious track. Is it about her home in the mountains of East Tennessee? Is it about family and friends? Could the song be about love? Or heartbreak? Is it something else entirely? What we can express

There’s one thing we know for sure – we all want to be around when this Dolly Parton song is finally released. And, even though she would be almost 100 years old in 2045 (Parton was born in 1946), we all can also hope that she will be alive to see the song unveiled as well.

Idea for Securing Unreleased Dolly Parton Track at DreamMore Resort Came from Marketing Team

So, where did the idea to hide an unheard and unreleased Dolly Parton track at the Dollywood DreamMore Resort come from?

Parton addressed this in her recent book, “Songteller: My Life in Lyrics.” In the book she said that a member of her team offered up the concept that she should have a song in a vault. This concept was viewed as an interesting idea on the marketing front.

With this idea out there, Parton was asked to compose a song that could be securely stored in a box. Interestingly, it was her Uncle Bill who designed the box where this unheard Dolly Parton track is currently held. The wooden box is made out of chestnut. Its current home is a display case made out of glass.

According to what Dolly Parton shared in her book, the song was stored on a CD. And, she even included a CD player in the wooden box made by her uncle.

Why did she include a CD player? Well, according to what Parton wrote in her book, she wanted to make sure people had a way of listening to it in 2045. Here’s what she reportedly said: “there’s no telling what music is going to be by then.”

She also added: “Anyway, it’s kind of weird or strange that they would ask me to write this mystery song. I don’t know if I want to live to be 100 or not. But you never know. I might, and if I do, I’m going to be at that opening.”

Let’s all hope this irreplaceable country music icon is still with us then – and beyond.
