Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is expanding statewide to Kentucky.

In a new video shared to her Twitter account, Parton revealed that her famous program would be expanding to cover the entire state of Kentucky.

From Dolly’s Twitter account:

I’m so happy to share that @dollyslibrary is expanding statewide in Kentucky. 📚 Thank you to everyone partnering with us to make more dreams come true.

Parton thanked the Kentucky state legislature and multiple senators along with all of the partners for the nonprofit in a short, 30-second video celebrating the long-awaited announcement.

What is the Imagination Library?

The nonprofit mails books to children from the time that they enter this world all the way up to the age of five years old free of charge. Another fundamental element of the program is that they do not change who qualifies based on income.

Parton started the nonprofit to help young children gain access to books in her home state as she saw the importance of access for young children and was inspired by the fact that her father was not able to read. The program began in her home state of Tennessee and it only expanded from there.

Since launching all the way back in 1995, the program has donated over 150 million books to children all over the world, including Australia and the Republic of Ireland. In addition to those books donated all over the world, Parton’s Imagination Library has registered 1,895,198 children, globally, as well, per the Imagination Library website.
