When she’s not busy promoting her new album, Dolly Parton is also saving lives. The country music legend came to the aid of a 9-year-old girl when she was almost run over by a car.
The incident happened during filming on the set of Parton’s newest Netflix special “Christmas on the Square.”
In the special, Parton plays an angel. But in real life, she was this 9-year-old’s guardian angel. Talia Hill almost walked into the path of an oncoming car when Parton came to her rescue. Hill and both her brothers had been cast in the special after auditioning for roles.
While on set, Hill wanted some hot chocolate from a nearby station. She was in a hurry when the director called the cast back to their assigned marks. So much in a hurry, she didn’t notice a car driving straight towards her.
“So, there is a vehicle moving, and I was walking. Then somebody grabbed me and pulled me back. And I looked up, and it was Dolly Parton,” Hill told Inside Edition. “And she’s like, ‘Well, I am an angel, you know.’ Cause she plays an angel in the movie. I was in shock. She hugged me and shook me and said, ‘I saved your life!’”
For a moment, Parton really was a guardian angel come to life.
Dolly Parton Also Funded COVID-19 Research
Saving a young girl’s life is all in a day’s work for Parton. In addition to a movie, book, and album, Parton may also save millions of lives this year with her charitable donation. She contributed $1 million to a viable vaccine for the COVID-19 pandemic.
Parton wrote of her contribution, “My longtime friend Dr. Naji Abumrad, who’s been involved in research at Vanderbilt for many years, informed me that they were making some exciting advancements towards that research of the coronavirus for a cure. I am making a donation of $1 million to Vanderbilt towards that research and to encourage people that can afford it to make donations.”
