Country music superstar Bill Ray Cyrus continues his surge in popularity that has put the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer back on the map. Cyrus recently joined Today hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager to talk music and a variety off other subjects.
While speaking with the duo, Cyrus got a welcome surprise from his longtime friend, fellow country star Dolly Parton. As Parton pops on screen, Cyrus looks extremely happy to see the godmother of his daughter Miley. In the clip, Parton reveals that she has a “crush” on the singer.
“Hi Billy Ray!” Parton starts off. “I wish I could have been there with you today but I sure had a fun time singing a duet with you on my Holly Dolly Christmas album and singing with Miley, too.”
After thanking Cyrus for his contributions to her newest Christmas album, Parton makes Cyrus giggle by revealing her “secret” crush.
“Of course, you know I got a crush on you,” Parton proclaims.
While Cyrus is clearly at a loss for words after Parton’s revelation, Hoda and Jenna tell Parton she will have to take a number.
“Who doesn’t?” Jenna asks as the hosts also giggle at Parton’s words for the singer.
“Line up Dolly,” Hoda says with a laugh. “You will have to get behind us.”
Cyrus Talks Duet With Parton
When asked by Hoda how the duet with Parton turned out, the country star needs a moment to collect himself before answering.
“My face is as red as this bandana,” he says pointing to the bandana around his hat. “I’m gushing over here. I hope that doesn’t show as much as it feels.”
On the album, Cyrus joins Parton on a song called “Christmas Where We Are.” The singer says the song about Christmas during the COVID-19 pandemic and practicing social distancing during the holidays.
“It is about staying positive and staying safe,” he says. “It’s about being happy and loving each other through the holidays”
