Dolly Parton gets animated for the teaser to her new music video with singer Michael Bublé. The country legend revealed the video for “Cuddle Up, Cozy Down Christmas” will premiere at 10 a.m. ET tomorrow (Nov. 6).
Perhaps a sign of things to come, the teaser has been animated in a style reminiscent of Christmas specials like Charlie Brown or How The Grinch Stole Christmas. The video features Parton and Bublé as cartoons on a piano drifting down a snowy hill. It also features two snowpeople holding hands, abdominal snowmen drinking together and owls cuddled in a nest.
Dolly Parton Released Her Third Christmas Album
The song features on Parton’s third Christmas album A Holly Dolly Christmas, which released on Oct. 2. The album debuted on the top of Billboard’s Country Albums and Top Holiday Albums. Parton worked with Bublé as well as Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus, Jimmy Fallon, and Willie Nelson.
Speaking with American Songwriter, Parton discussed her inspiration behind “Cuddle Up, Cozy Down Christmas.” She said the song was inspired by her niece.
“People will find this surprising,” Parton said. “They might not even like it. It might not be as sexy – but it’s the truth: I wrote this when I was cuddling up and cozying down with one of my little nieces and nephews, just thinking about mothers and their babies.
“When I started writing it, it was just like, ‘I want to cuddle up and cozy down with you / Wrap my arms around you / Sleep the whole night through,’” Parton continued. “and it’s really about being there with your little baby, kissing and hugging and all that.”
Parton decided to spice up the song for her audiences. She brought in Bublé and refashioned the song into that of a romantic theme.
“Then later, I thought, ‘Well, I need to make this into a more romantic thing.’ So I did,” she said. “and I cuddled up with Michael Bublé on this one! He did a great job on it. So it made it sexy. I can only fantasize cuddling up and cozying down with him!”
