While 2020 was a turbulent, often horrid year for many, it proved a brilliant resurgence for the megastar’s career. Parton has never strayed from the spotlight (or our hearts) for a day in her life, but 2020 saw Dolly appearing to fans around every corner. More on that later. First, let’s get to feeling some New Year’s love – courtesy of the one and only Dolly Parton.
“Here’s to a year of love, health and happiness,” the icon wishes her fans on Twitter. In addition, Parton buttons her well wishes with a “pretty please” and prayer hands – as she knows we’ll need all the help we can get moving into 2021.
2020 “Biggest Year Yet” for Dolly Parton
Indeed, 2020 was one of the best years on record for Dolly Parton. Her giving spirit saw her donate $1 million toward developing a COVID-19 vaccine. Moreover, she received dozens of awards, including Billboard’s Hitmaker Award. Within, she was finally recognized by the music industry giant for her countless #1 hits for both other artists – and of course, herself. Her prolific career has given birth to timeless hits like “Jolene,” “9 to 5,” and “I Will Always Love You”, just to name a few.
In celebration of this, Parton’s highly-anticipated autobiography of her songwriting career, titled Songteller: My Life in Lyrics.
Congruently, she recorded her latest smash-hit Christmas album: A Holly Dolly Christmas. The album features duets with Michael Bublé, Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus, Jimmy Fallon and her brother Randy Parton. And yes, all of it recorded in 2020.
And if that weren’t enough, Dolly also took Netflix by storm with the release of her Christmas musical, Christmas on the Square. “This holiday musical is directed by @msdebbieallen and stars Christine Baranski along with so many other talented individuals. I hope this film brings some joy to your holiday season,” Parton adds of the film on Twitter.
