We love Dolly Parton here at Outsider and we know we’re far from alone in that. Dolly has written and recorded some of the most memorable songs in country music history. “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” and “9 to 5” are just the tip of the iceberg. However, it’s not just her music that makes her one of our favorite people. Heck, that’s not even the most important part. Dolly’s kind, loving, and generous spirit shines so bright that she casts out any darkness around her. It’s like her goal is to make as many people happy as possible and she never rests.
Dolly Parton took to social media earlier today to give us one more example of why she’s so great. Her latest post contains a gorgeous throwback photo as well as some words of encouragement. Check it out below:
Dolly Parton gets offended when anyone calls her the Queen of Country Music. So, I’ll refrain from doing that. However, this post shows once again why some of us refer to her as the Patron Saint of Appalachia. In the post’s caption, she says, “There’s a great new world out there for those who dare to claim it. A better day is on the way and only you can change it.”
Talk about your inspirational words of wisdom! That’s a sentiment you can write on your heart and keep for later. Be the change you want to see in the world. Let your own inner light shine and you’ll see it reflected in others. In other words, follow Dolly Parton’s lead.
A Closer Look at Dolly Parton’s Inspirational Post
Dolly Parton shared some inspirational words. However, some may not immediately know where they’re from. The caption of her post is actually the first chorus of a song called “Change It” from the Broadway production of 9 to 5. Here’s a video of Dolly performing the song solo. If the post had you ready to run through a wall, the whole song will get you amped up to change the world.
The lyrics to “Change It” are packed with inspirational quotes. For instance, the last few lines of the song’s second verse will give you fuel to get out of a funk. “If there’s an empty space and you can’t name it. / That feelin’ in your gut that’s got you in a rut, / You’re made of better stuff and you can change it.” How’s that for inspiration?
As this month draws to an end and the holiday season looms before us, it’s normal to get in a rut. It’s a stressful time of year. If you start getting the Holiday Blues, just throw this tune on, crank it up, and sing along until your throat hurts. You’ll feel better. Trust me on this.
