Dolly Parton’s career as a singer, songwriter, and star has spanned more than five decades. So, it’s no surprise that the country music legend would consider herself old school.

Appearing via video from her Nashville home, Parton recently appeared on the Scandinavian talk show “Skavlan” to talk about her career and her Christmas album, “A Holly Dolly Christmas.” During the interview, the singer talks about how goddaughter Miley Cyrus, who appears on the holiday album, uses a fax machine to communicate with her.

“Well, that’s true,” Dolly Parton says in the interview. “I still have my old fax machine, and they always think I”m an old dinosaur; I guess I am. But, I’m not extinct yet.”

The singer goes on to say that despite her way of communicating, she can always be relied on to get to where she needs to be on time – and before – her younger counterparts.

“Anyway, I always say, ‘Hey, don’t worry about me. I’ll be there; I’ll be ahead of you no matter what you’ve got going on,'” Dolly said.

Dolly Parton also gave the Scandinavian audience a glimpse into her creative process. “But, anyway, we do communicate in different ways, but I do still write with my little cassette player like I always have,” she said. “I write my songs on my legal pad. I read my books – real physical books, rather than reading them online or whatever. And the good ole’ phone still works.”

Also, her amusement park, Dollywood, is all decked out for the holiday season.
