In honor of her Father’s Day yesterday, Garth Brooks’ daughter, Allie Colleen, posted a couple photos on Instagram to celebrate her country legend dad. Allie, who shares a striking resemblance to her father, captioned the photos, “Here’s to all the Dads that have always been where they’re needed and to the best one a daughter could ask for.” The first photo in the collage is a recent one, as Garth Brooks hugs two of his daughters, August Anna (26) and Allie Colleen (24). The second photo is a throwback, featuring a young Brooks holding baby Allie close.
Garth Brooks’ Daughter Follows His Footsteps
When Garth Brooks first held his youngest daughter, Allie Colleen, for the first time, chances are he didn’t think that she would embark on a musical journey like her dad. Despite her success now, the rising country star didn’t always have the confidence in her talent that she has today. With the artist behind “Friends in Low Places,” it can be hard for a young girl to feel that her voice meets the same standard.
In an interview with ET, Garth Brooks’ youngest daughter admitted she often kept her voice to herself growing up.
“Oddly enough, I didn’t sing in front of my family a lot but they were always hearing me you know, like, ‘Allie was always in the shower or the closet for some reason singing stuff,’ you know what I mean?” Colleen told ET. “They knew, they supported everything amazing, but like, I was never one to get my guitar on the couch in front of my family and play music or anything.”
The Other Musical Influence in the Brooks Household
Of course, as most country fans know, Garth Brooks was not the only country star in their household when Colleen was young. Following the divorce with her mother, Sandy Mahl, in 2001, Brooks married award-winning country singer Trisha Yearwood in 2005. Colleen was only nine years old at the time.
Although she never performed in front of her dad and step-mom at home, Colleen remembers Yearwood being a positive energy in the Brooks household.
Colleen shared in an interview with Everything Nash, “I had the privilege, the amazing privilege to grow up and watch my dad fall in love with this amazing woman and have this amazing relationship. We got married; my bonus mom and I, and my sisters exchanged rings when my parents got married, all that kind of stuff. It was such a beautiful relationship to grow up watching.”
After all these years, Yearwood and Colleen still have a strong relationship. When the young singer came to perform with Yearwood on her cooking show, Trisha’s Southern Kitchen, Colleen recalled that the two couldn’t stop crying because it was such an emotional moment for the both of them.
Now an accomplished country singer and songwriter, Allie Colleen is currently touring the U.S., performing her debut album Stones with a powerful voice that could only come from a household as talented and loving as hers.
