Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks are perhaps one of the most iconic couples in the world of country music.

The two country superstars tied the knot on December 10, 2005. However, it’s not either artist’s first marriage. Trisha Yearwood was first married to Chris Latham in 1987. The two divorced in 1991 and then she married Bobby Reynolds, who is a bassist for The Mavericks.

Brooks and Yearwood were close friends and musical partners during the first half of their careers. Meanwhile, Garth Brooks was first married to songwriter Sandy Mahl on May 24, 1986. The two divorced in 2001.

Suddenly, Brooks and Yearwood’s relationship turned beyond country music and friendly encounters. They started dating in 2002, were engaged in 2005, and got married that same year. Garth had three kids with his first wife — Taylor Mayne Pearl, August Anna, and Allie Colleen Brooks.

That means that Yearwood is a proud stepmom to three children as well. Allie Colleen recently shared a sweet message about growing up with Trisha Yearwood as a motherly figure in her life. She was only 9 when Yearwood became her stepmom, but she continues to majorly impact her life.

“I had the privilege, the amazing privilege to grow up and watch my dad fall in love with this amazing woman and have this amazing relationship. We got married; my bonus mom and I, and my sisters exchanged rings when my parents got married, all that kind of stuff. It was such a beautiful relationship to grow up watching,” Allie Colleen said to Everything Nash.

Similar to Yearwood and Garth Brooks, Allie Colleen is a musician herself. She has her debut album out called “Stones.” She even performed one of her songs, “Wildflower,” while on an episode of her stepmother’s cooking show, “Trisha’s Southern Kitchen.”

“The producer of the show that day, we just kept crying and we couldn’t get through the song, and he just goes, ‘Just do this like you do at home.’ And Trisha and I looked at him and we’re like, ‘This is the first time in our lives that we are singing together. We have never done this before, ever.’ So it was such a cool moment for me, and also really tough to share that with all the other production people in the room. But that was fun,” Allie Colleen said.

Helping Raise Garth Brooks’ Kids

Unlike Garth Brooks, Yearwood didn’t really have a lot of experience with raising kids or family life. Over the past 16 years, she’s really started to find her place in their life as that “third parent” figure.

“[Brooks’ three daughters] were a gift that I didn’t know I needed. I didn’t know how much children brought into your life until I got a chance to be a part of their lives … Garth was such a wonderful mentor to me as to how to be a parent, and he told me, ’You’ll find your way with each of them. Don’t try to be their best friend, and don’t try to be their mom,’” Yearwood said to People.

From a power couple to power parents, Yearwood and Brooks have navigated it all.
