Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood Send Touching Message to Loretta Lynn, Encourage Fans to Support Flood Relief Efforts

Garth Brooks and wife Trisha Yearwood sent a message of encouragement to Loretta Lynn and the people of Tennessee.

The country superstar tweeted: “Hey Loretta, we love you more than words can say! love, g & t” Then Garth Brooks added the details of a benefit concert, Monday night, with proceeds going to help people devastated from last month’s floods in middle Tennessee.

On Monday night, several high-profile country stars came together to raise money for a cause dear to Loretta Lynn’s heart. She called the benefit Loretta Lynn’s Friends: Hometown Rising. Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood were among the many stars who performed at the Grand Ole Opry. Other stars who lent their voices to the cause were Chris Janson, Luke Combs, Little Big Town, Breland, and Reba McEntire. Plus, country fans got to hear Brittney Spencer, Keith Urban, and Luke Bryan.

The concert was streamed on Circle Network. Garth Brooks tweeted the link to see a concert replay and where to text a donation to the fund.

When she organized the concert, Lynn said: “I am so honored that so many of our friends are coming together to show so much love for our neighbors and community after such a devastating loss. You know, we’ve all needed help from time-to-time, and that’s why when we can give back, we do.”

Garth Brooks and Other Stars Sang to Help Flood Victims

Record-setting floods swamped areas of middle Tennessee, August 21st. Dickson and Humphreys counties were most affected. Twenty residents of the town of Waverly died in the flooding. Lynn’s ranch foreman was one of the 20. So were twin, seven-month-old sisters. It’s all why Lynn, the country legend, worked so hard to help her neighbors. She leaned on her very famous friends, including Garth Brooks and Keith Urban, for help telling the stories of what happened.

The floods weren’t associated with the remnants of any hurricanes, which have impacted areas from the Gulf of Mexico to the East Coast. Rather, a stalled-out frontal boundary led to the Tennessee flooding. An upper air disturbance then hit the stalled front. The storms dumped rain for trained for hours. The town of McEwen received 17 inches of rain. Most of the water flowed into Waverly.

Garth Brooks and his fellow country stars were raising money for all the people who were displaced in the floods. Authorities in Waverly said 272 homes were destroyed and another 168 suffered major damage.

Other country stars helped out with their own benefits for flood relief. Morgan Wallen, along with Dierks Bentley and Cole Swindell, raised $725,000.

Wallen told the crowd: “The people here mean so much to me and I was watching the news and reading some articles and I read some stories that really touched my heart and made me feel like it could’ve been my hometown. I wanted to do something about it… Just seeing people hurtin’ man, nobody likes to see that and we’re going to try to do something about it tonight.”
