This Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood cover is anything but shallow.

One of country music’s favorite musical couples, Garth and Trisha, released their version of “Shallow” recently. The song was originally made famous by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper in their film A Star Is Born.

Brooks and Yearwood first covered the song after a fan requested it during a Facebook Live video in March. The cover was such a hit that the duo decided to record an official version for Brooks’ latest album, Fun. The only difference between Brooks and Yearwood’s version and the original song recorded by Cooper and Gaga, is that it’s clear there is no acting involved with Brooks and Yearwood’s love.

During an interview, Garth talked about the similarities between him and actor Bradley Cooper.

“I always thought Bradley Cooper and I had a lot in common, now I know,” said Brooks. “We both understand that a great song is just finding a great female singer … and just kind of hang on,” he said.

Brooks also said that “Shallow” is not a song that he would usually consider recording. However, after hearing his wife sing, he knew the song needed to be on his album.

“I would have never thought of it, but after hearing Trisha Yearwood sing, that’s a record must right there. I’m really proud of that one,” said Brooks.

This Isn’t The First Time Garth Brooks And Trisha Yearwood Recorded A Duet

For her 2019 album, Every Girl, Yearwood invited Brooks for a duet. The two sang “What Gave Me Away,” a blues-inspired song about two people who can’t deny the spark they feel after first meeting. During the song, the two sing, “Did I ever have you guessing? Did you know it from the second I walked in the room? Was it written on my face? What gave me away?”

During an interview, Yearwood said that she chose this song, as well as all the other songs on her album because they reflected moments in her own life.

“I have always chosen songs that feel very personal to me, but I don’t think I ever really admitted that in interviews before!” said Yearwood.

And when it came to choosing a singing partner for “What Gave Me Away,” Trisha said she only had one person in mind.

“The song describes such an intimate moment between two people,” said Yearwood. “I couldn’t imagine asking anyone else to sing on this song except Garth. He’s my person. He’s my crush.”

And now we’re all jealous of the love between Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood.
