George Strait Adds New Tour Dates in 2021 and 2022

by Jonathan Howard

Look at your calendars because George Strait has added new tour dates for 2021 and 2022. Las Vegas is a bit of a favorite venue for Strait. This past weekend, he stepped on stage at T-Mobile Arena marking the first show he played in the Entertainment Capital of the World since February 2020.

When George Strait isn’t posting a throwback pic or sharing a few lyrics on social media, he is gearing up to play shows. Currently, he has dates marked for Austin, TX, Atlanta, GA, and Minneapolis, MN. Those shows will be this fall between the beginning of October and mid-way through November. However, the best news came recently when Strait added new dates for Las Vegas.

Although he just played in Las Vegas, Nevada George Strait has already announced more dates for T-Mobile Arena. Those shows will be part of “Strait to Vegas”. Show include dates on December 3rd and 4th, and then again on February 11th and 12th. While he is in Vegas he will be joined by a couple of other artists. For the December shows, Caitlyn Smith will join the King of Country followed by Tenille Townes in February.

Tickets have not gone on sale as of now. Those interested in buying tickets will need to wait until August 27th for public sales. Or, get your hands on presales starting August 18th.

George Strait Hits the Rodeo

Las Vegas isn’t the highlight of George Strait’s planned shows, at least if you are a Texan. The ultimate show is seeing Strait playing the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He will return to the event on March 20, 2022. This will be the 31st time that the King of Country has performed at the event and it is a truly unique environment.

What about those other dates to close out 2021? Of course, he will headline BOTH weekends of the Austin City Limits Music Festival which will be a great event. One of the most exciting and energetic shows will likely be in Atlanta. Playing alongside Eric Church at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium, “The King & The Chief” as the show will be a part of the ATLive Festival. The show in Minneapolis is not part of a larger event or festival.

While George Strait doesn’t tour like he used to, seeing him play even at 69-years-old is always an amazing show. With 60 number one singles, the most of any artists across all genres, the catalog is deep for Strait. If he played just his number one hits, it would take literally hours upon hours to run through them all. And you still wouldn’t get to some of the best material in his repertoire. With these new shows, fans should be excited to see Strait back on stage in Las Vegas.
