George Strait Is All Smiles on Stage in Throwback Concert Pic

by Quentin Blount

Country music legend George Strait took to social media on Friday afternoon to share a throwback photo with his many fans and followers.

The King of Country was all smiles on stage in what appears to be him during a performance at one of his previous concerts. Strait has always been a man of few words and the caption of his most recent photo reflects this.

King George posted a photo to Instagram of him smiling on stage with his guitar in hand and his iconic black cowboy hat on his head. The photo has gotten over 15,000 likes since he made the post.

“Don’t let that speed limit slow you down. #Run,” Strait wrote alongside the photo.

Of course, the photo and its caption are lyrics from the George Strait classic hit song, “Run.”

The song “Run” was co-written by Anthony Smith and Tony Lane. It saw its release back in September of 2001 as the lead single from Strait’s album The Road Less Traveled. The song reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts in December 2001.

In the song, the narrator tells his lover to leave Dallas, Texas, and “run” to him. The narrator then lists many different forms of transport throughout the song that his lover can take to reach him. Seeing the throwback photo with the lyrics to the song hits us right in the feels.

There’s a shortcut to the highway out of town
Why don’t you take it?
Don’t let that speed limit slow you down
Go on and break it

Baby, run, cut a path across the blue skies
Straight in a straight line
You can’t get here fast enough
Find a truck and fire it up
Lean on the gas and off the clutch
Leave Dallas in the dust
I need you in a rush
So, baby, run
