With the busy lives that country stars lead, it’s easy to think that they don’t see their fans’ praise and appreciation on social media. However, George Strait proves that he’s in tune with his digital fans with his recent Tweet, encouraging others to join the Facebook page, George’s Honky Tonk Hangout.

Named after his latest album, Honky Tonk Time Machine, the King of Country’s official page manages the Facebook group where fans can show their love for the star and stay up-to-date with new developments. The social group apparently “turned two this week” and has nearly 40,000 Strait fanatics.

George Strait Engages with Fans Online

Just two years ago, the 68-year-old country legend released his 30th album, Honky Tonk Time Machine. Back in March, when the star posted about the album’s milestone on Instagram, he extended the celebration to his fans online.

With a reposted picture of the album artwork, Strait told followers in the caption, “In honor of “Honky Tonk Time Machine”‘s release anniversary on March 29th, we’re hosting another contest in the Honky Tonk Hangout. Hit that link in bio to join the fun!”

When the album first dropped in 2019, it sold 44,000 copies and launching as No. 4 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart within its first week.

Strait Honors Those Who Carry ‘Weight of the Badge’

George Strait also recently announced on his social accounts the release of a very special project. On June 11, the King of Country came out with a five-song compilation dedicated to those in emergency response. The announcing Tweet told followers, “For those of you who carry the weight of the badge, George put together a compilation of songs to celebrate and honor all of your hard work and sacrifice.”

The compilation features Straits’ most popular songs about everyday heroes, including “The Weight of the Badge,” “The Fireman,” “Cowboys Like Us,” So Much Like My Dad” and “I Saw God Today.” The cover art has a stoic-looking Strait in his classic black cowboy hat and a sheriff’s badge in the corner.

Strait’s 2019 single, “The Weight of the Badge” became the anthem for those in blue, as the country artist details the hard life of a hardworking officer.

“He swore that oath to protect and serve
Pours his heart and soul into both those words
Lays his life on the line
And the line he walks is razor-fine
Tempered strength is always tough
But he ain’t gonna buckle under the weight of the badge.”

Further in the song, George Strait nods to the risks that our country’s policemen face during the job and the toll that takes on their families, as well.

“Not that long ago he woke up in the hospital
With his wife and kids praying by his bed
He said I’m gonna be alright
There’s just some times you gotta fight
And the truth is, nothing truer could be said
I do it for us and I do it for them
And I ain’t gonna buckle under the weight of the badge.”
