In addition to being a country music icon, George Strait is also a cowboy through and through. And, he reminded his fans of that with a tweet shared on Monday (April 26).
The singer’s Twitter account posted a photo of Strait fully decked out in his cowboy best. He’s wearing jeans – with a large belt buckle, of course – boots, and one of his famous cowboy hats. What completes the picture is the rope he is holding.
It’s a great photo of a great country artist, to be sure. And, it captures The King of Country perfectly.
If the photo wasn’t enough, the tweet also included a line from one of George Strait’s many hit songs. The line is “There’ll be no regrets, no worries and such, for cowboys like us.”
You can check out the tweet below.
As they often do when George Strait shares a message on social media, the singer’s fans had many positive things to share with The King of Country in response to the tweet.
“Picture of a Perfect Man! Love you George,” one fan shared.
“… that’s a real man right there!” another said.
“That’s a nice photo of a cowboy …” read another comment shared in response to Strait’s tweeted photo on Monday.
George Strait Released ‘Cowboys Like Us’ in 2003
George Strait’s song “Cowboys Like Us” was released in August 2003. The song was the second single he released from his “Honkytonkville” album.
The song was very popular and it made it all the way to the second spot on the Billboard country singles chart. It did so during December 2003. The top song at the time? It was “I Love This Bar” by Toby Keith.
The song captures what it is to go out and feel free while riding on “steel horses with wheels.” What follows is a sample of the hit song’s lyrics:
“Cowboys like us sure do have fun / Racing the wind, chasing the sun / Take the long way around back to square one / Today we’re just outlaws out on the run / There’ll be no regrets, no worries and such / For cowboys like us.”
“Cowboys Like Us” was written by Bob DiPiero and Anthony Smith.
Other songs on The King of Country’s “Honkytonkville” album were “She Used to Say That to Me,” “Look Who’s Back from Town,” “Honk If You Honkytonk,” and “I Found Jesus On The Jailhouse Floor.”
