Country superstar George Strait has an encyclopedic knowledge of his own song catalog. And he frequently posts random songlines or reminders of song-related anniversaries on social media.

Strait was at it again on Tuesday, posting a lyric from “She’ll Leave You With a Smile” to Instagram. Co-written by Odie Blackmon and Jay Knowles, the song came out in the autumn of 2002. It then hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart and also made it to the Hot 100 chart.

“When she leaves you with a 😊,” Strait posted Tuesday.

George Strait is Playing Concerts This Summer

As the pandemic ebbs, Strait is getting back on the road. The country singer is heading to Las Vegas this August and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo next year.

Strait’s Las Vegas shows will take place on Aug. 13 and 14 at the T-Mobile Arena. Caitlyn Smith will also appear as Strait’s special guest.

“The Ace in the Hole Band and I have been looking forward to this day for a year and a half,” Strait said in a statement, per Taste of Country. “I cannot wait to see Vegas and all of my great fans once again. It’s been way too long. We will finally ride again. See you soon.”

Later this year, in November, Strait is scheduled to play Minneapolis’s U.S. Bank Stadium with special guests Chris Stapleton and Little Big Town.

Strait’s Show in Houston Will Close Out the Rodeo

Meanwhile, George Strait is also looking gearing up to play the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s 90th anniversary celebration in March of 2022. The rodeo will run for 21 days starting on Feb. 28. Strait’s performance will take place on the rodeo’s final night, March 20.

The country singer will perform at NRG Stadium. Tickets for the concert will be available starting on June 24.

“What better way to celebrate the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s 90th anniversary than with a special, concert-only performance by the ‘King of Country’ music himself,” rodeo president and CEO Chris Boleman said in a press release. “After a couple of particularly challenging years, our thousands of dedicated volunteers simply can’t wait to welcome everyone back to the Rodeo grounds for a Texas-sized celebration of Western heritage that will be well worth the wait.”

The March 20 show will be Strait’s 31st concert at the rodeo. His history of appearances there stretches all the way back to 1983. Since 1983, more than 1.7 million Rodeo Houston fans have seen Strait perform. More recently, Strait’s 2019 show with Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen shattered NRG Stadium’s previous attendance record.
