On Wednesday afternoon, country icon George Strait shared an epic throwback cowboy photo while on his horse at a scenic overlook.

Back in August 2003, Strait released his 22nd studio album Honkytonkville. Although it was one of the few albums in his career that didn’t produce a No. 1 single, the album did have a song that reached No. 2. “Cowboys Like Us” became Strait’s first single off his 2003 album as it climbed to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts.

George Strait’s Instagram account shared an old cowboy picture of the singer with his more than one million followers. The account referenced Strait’s “Cowboys Like Us” single and added a portion of the lyrics to the hit song as a caption. In the picture, Strait sits atop his horse with lasso in hand adorned with his signature cowboy hat on his head. Additionally, you can see for miles on end into the distance behind the country star in the scenic photo.

“‘Cowboys like us sure do have fun, Racing the wind, chasing the sun.’ #CowboysLikeUs,” George Strait’s account wrote on Instagram.

George Strait Quizzes Fans on 1982 Album Release

Last week, George Strait quizzed his fans on Twitter when he asked them to name the album that released on that day in 1982. “Name the album! It was released on this day in 1982 and included the hit singles ‘Fool Hearted Memory’ and ‘Marina Del Rey,’” Strait’s Twitter posted.

The country musician’s account only revealed two singles off the 1982 album. They also included an edited photo of the record’s front cover, but with all words removed from it. George Strait’s biggest fans will know it immediately, but just in case you’re not quite sure, we’ll go over some more clues.

The album Strait is referring to released on June 3, 1982, almost 40 years ago. The record is his second studio album from MCA Records. As the post mentioned, “Fool Hearted Memory” is one of the hits off the unnamed album. In addition, it became the first single off the record, which also was Strait’s first No. 1 single of his legendary career.

Further, the record had three additional Top 10 charted singles. “Marina Del Rey” peaked at No. 6, “Amarillo by Morning” climbed to No. 4, and “A Fire I Can’t Put Out” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart – his second single to top the charts.

Here’s the last hint: the album peaked on the US Billboard Top Country Albums chart at No. 18 and is certified platinum. If it still doesn’t ring a bell, read on. Fans should remember his 1982 classic well since it solidified his status in country music. The album is called Strait From The Heart.
