George Strait, known as “The King of Country,” has expressed he is thrilled that live music is returning. The tweet, which said, “that look on your face when you know live music is coming back,” shows a photo of George Strait grinning from ear to ear at a concert.
‘The King of Country” announced he was retiring from touring in 2012, but it seems he can’t stay away from performing. He’s got a very impressive lineup of shows coming up this year.
George Strait to Perform at Multiple Venues over the Next Year
On his birthday, Strait’s team announced the country superstar would headline the 90th annual RODEO HOUSTON. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo features musical guests, and Strait has performed there for decades. Tickets for this event go on sale on June 24th, but RODEO HOUSTON won’t take place until March 2022. Representatives for the event are excited to open back up.
“After a couple of particularly challenging years, our thousands of dedicated volunteers simply can’t wait to welcome everyone back to the Rodeo Grounds for a Texas-sized celebration of Western heritage that will be well worth the wait, Rodeo president CEO Chris Boleman said.
George Strait will also perform at the Austin City Limits music festival in October of this year. The star-studded and eclectic festival features many artists from a variety of genres. Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus, Stevie Nicks, Rüfüs Du Sol, Dababy, and Erykah Badu will headline. Other notable artists include Machine Gun Kelly, Jack Harlow, Phoebe Bridgers, and Jon Batiste.
But the fun for Strait and his fans doesn’t stop there. On top of these two massive shows, Strait will also perform twice in Las Vegas in August.
“The Ace in the Hole Band and I have been looking forward to this day for a year and a half. I cannot wait to see Vegas and all of my great fans once again. It’s been way too long. We will finally ride again. See you soon,” he said to fans in a post about the shows.
The shows will take place in the T-Mobile Arena on August 13th and 14th. Like essentially every tour and concert last year, Strait had to delay his Vegas performance. Now, Strait joins the tidal wave of artists getting the show back on the road, announcing concert dates and celebrating a return to the stage.
The country star, who recently celebrated his 69th birthday, has been performing and releasing hit songs since the 70s. With over 100 million records sold worldwide, George Strait is one of the best-selling artists in music history. His continued desire to perform is a gift to his countless fans, many of which aren’t going to take live music for granted any time soon.
