George Strait Posts Throwback Photo of Him and Norma on Anniversary

Country music legend George Strait loves his wife Norma a whole lot. Celebrating 48 years of wedded bliss is worth shouting about from the rooftops.

Friday marks their wedding anniversary and Strait wanted to share in the special moment with his fans on Twitter.

Here’s a photo of the two lovebirds with Norma getting a hug from her legendary husband.

George Strait Marries Norma For The First Time In Mexico

George and Norma met in high school in a small town in Texas. Their relationship grew deeper and they decided to get married, but they took a unique path.

They decided to elope in Mexico on Dec. 4, 1971, and get married. That didn’t satisfy either one’s parents, so they repeated the process at a church in Pearsall, Texas, which is south of San Antonio.

Later that year, George joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Hawaii.

The Straits had their first child, Jenifer, on Oct. 6, 1972, in Hawaii. Their son George “Bubba” Strait Jr. was born in 1981. Sadly, Jennifer was killed in an auto accident in San Marcos, Texas, when she was 13.

If he’s not on the road performing, then you’ll find George with Norma at their ranch in Cotulla, Texas, which is between San Antonio and Laredo, Texas.

George Strait Helps Music Workers’ Fund With Artwork

Strait has a heart for those who have not been able to perform much since many clubs closed due to COVID-19 restrictions across the United States.

He wanted to help make a difference and support them at this time.

In addition, prior to the Thanksgiving holiday, Strait autographed limited edition artwork created by Soundwaves Art based on his legendary hit “Amarillo By Morning.”

According to their website, Sweet Relief Musicians Fund provides financial assistance to all types of career musicians and music industry workers who are struggling to make ends meet while facing illness, disability or age-related problems.
