George Strait Posts Throwback Photo, Lyrics from ‘I Saw God Today’

Legendary Country Music Star George Strait took to social media to take a trip down memory lane with his fans. On Thursday, the famous singer and songwriter posted a throwback performance photo and lyrics to one of his hits. The country music icon is wearing his trademark hat with a guitar in hand in the pic.

Strait’s “I Saw God Today” was released as the first single off of the singer’s “Troubadour” album in early 2008. As with a number of Strait’s singles, the song was a smashing success. It rose to number one on Billboard, making it Strait’s 43rd song to hold the top spot. The song won Single of the Year at the 2008 CMA Awards.

“His fingerprints are everywhere,” the tweet reads. “I just look down to stop and stare. Open my eyes and then I swear. I saw God today.”

The song describes a man walking down the sidewalk after his wife just had a baby. He begins to notice small things like a flower from a crack in the sidewalk and the color of the sunset. He later cites these examples as “seeing God” through the beauty of the world.

George Strait Fans Respond to Social Media Post

Several George Strait social media followers replied to the post thanking him for sharing the photo and beautiful lyrics.

“My favorite,” one George Strait fan simply says.

“Smiling George, I love this song, of course I have the album,” another fan writes. “Looking handsome in red. God bless you and your beautiful family always forever.”
